Mykonos State Airport (abbreviations: IATA: JMK, ICAO: LGMK, YPA: KAMK) is the central airport that serves the island of Mykonos, located 4 km from the city center.
The airport first opened its gates in 1971, offering many international charter flights during the summer while focusing mainly on domestic flights during the winter. It is noteworthy to say that in December 2015, the privatization of Mykonos State Airport was finalized, along with 13 other regional airports, through the signing of a concession to the Fraport AG / Kopelouzos Group consortium by the Public Property Ownership Fund (T.A.I.P.D).
According to the contract, the consortium operates the 14 airports (including Mykonos) for 40 years starting from April 11, 2017. The transfer time from the airport to the city is about 10 minutes and while there is no bus stop nearby, there is a taxi stand in front of the terminal.
